Self-guided tour from Kouvola

To the tour starting from Kouvola! How does this sound?

Kouvola > Koria > Lahti > Vääksy > Pertunmaa > Mäntyharju > Kouvola,

300 km

Here are some tips for a few days of self-guided tour in Kouvola!

The shopping tour begins with a visit to Puotimaalla farm in Koria, where there is a lovely country shop on an organic farm. The container shop sells the farm's own organic flour products and organic food.

From Koria, the journey continues to Lahti. Near the Lahti Travel Center, the Huhtadesign shop is a bag workshop, from which beautiful new bags regularly pour into the shop. In addition to bags, the shop offers print products, earrings, key accessories and interior design products.

Puine.fi makes everything beautiful from Finnish birch plywood for interior design – there is also a small brick-and-mortar shop connected to its own workshop.

There's a nice to stop by the Lahti Passenger Harbour for a coffee or a bite to eat and at the same time explore the Sataman käsityökauppa Ulpukka, a handicraft shop which operates in a renovated 150-year-old station, respecting the old buildings of Vesijärvi. Ulpukka offers a nice selection of high-quality and individual handicraft products from several domestic manufacturers.

Tour continues to Vääksy. Vääksy is a beautiful destination all year round and Vanha Vääksy  (old village) must be experienced with your own eyes. There, in a magnificent pink building, is the Ranskalainen kyläkauppa - a little piece of France in the middle of atmospheric Vanha Vääksy. They sell clothes, shoes, jewellery and interior design products, and there is also a French mountain-style café-restaurant on the premises.

The route continues with a drive along regional road 314 through Sysmä towards Pertunmaa. The regional road runs through the varied terrain of Lake Päijänne and crosses several islands.

In Pertunmaa, we visit the Käsityöpuoti Talvikki, which is a sales point for handicraft products from members of the Pertunman Käsityöläiset ry, a Handicrafts Association. In addition to finished handicrafts, the sale includes a comprehensive selection of different yarns, handicraft and sewing supplies and gift items.

From Pertunmaa we continue to Mäntyharju and visit Tarjan MuotiPuoti, which has become familiar to many people who are looking for something a little more personal over the past 20 years. Puoti Suerte is a versatile store in the town center, with products from over 100 small entrepreneurs, mainly domestic.

During the summer, it's worth stopping by for a waffle coffee at Makasiini Puoti & Kahvila, where you can admire both the lake view and the train traffic from the terrace. If you want to stay in Mäntyharju a little longer and visit the Salmela Art Center , Salmelan taidekeskus, in the summer, for example, we recommend staying at Huoneistomajoitus Unelma near the center of Mäntyharju.

From Mäntyharju the route goes iback to Kouvola,
