From Oulu, the journey continues to Tornio to the village of Karunki. On the way from Tornio, you can stop off abroad, for example, in Haaparanta, Sweden. In the past, people would travel long distances to Haaparanta to get things like butter because of the cheaper prices.
In Karungk, Tornio, Paperivalo shop & cafe is a design boutique focused on handmade paper. One of the few paper artists in Finland, Sirpa Kivilompolo, presents her Paperivalo collection in a completely renovated beautiful log house right by the main road.
Do you know what area is called Meänmaa? The Tornio Valley north of the Bothnian Bay – it has formed its own cultural region within the territory of two kingdoms for centuries. Let's continue our journey along the river to Ylitornio and visit the Mediatuuli shop, where you can find posters, Meän language cards, shirt prints, interior stickers, soft toys, and gift items.
From Ylitornio the drive continues to Rovaniemi to the eco-shop Ekolyyli. Here, the focus is on nature-loving products for both skin care and home care. A large part of the products come from Finnish female entrepreneurs.
From Rovaniemi the route continues to Sodankylä to visit Pirita Design, where stylish linen and alpaca knitwear and accessories designed and made there are on sale, as well as home products and carefully selected jewelry. You will also meet the designer herself at this shop, as his work space is located next to the shop.
In the center of Kuusamo you can find Hengarilla - a women's clothing specialty store, with the latest fashion finds, including plus sizes, and a particularly good selection of lingerie.
