Self-guided tour east of Tampere

From Tampere to Puotirundi for a few days! See the countryside, art, and the pulse of the city on the same trip. Buy handicrafts, soap, art, organic food, and even retro clothes.

Tampere > Luopioinen > Auttoinen > Vääksy > Mäntyharju > Kannusjärvi > Kouvola > Koria > Lahti > Hämeenlinna > Tampere

Depart from Tampere via Luopioinen, where we will visit the Käsityökesks Hilma&Olga Craft Centre. The beautiful garden will soothe your soul before continuing the journey to Auttoinen, where you can experience a true country atmosphere at Keinuhongan Tila farm. There you can get local food and microbrewery products for your lunch, and the farm also operates Suvimarja Lifestyle, a versatile and beautiful shop in a country setting.

From Auttoinen, the journey continues to beautiful Vääksy, where you can, in addition to shopping, stop by the Ranskalainen Kyläkauppa for lunch. Old Vääksy is worth seeing!

From Vääksy, you can drive to Mäntyharju and it is definitely worth stopping by the Salmela Art Center in the summer. In Mäntyharju you will find women's clothing heaven, Tarja Muotipuoti and Puoti Suerte, with lots of Finnish products. Makasiini Puoti & Kahvila is worth a visit for waffles. In Mäntyharju, we recommend staying at Huoneistomajoitus Unelma, which is a cozy pet-friendly hotel-level apartment for 1-7 people. Excellent location close to city center services, approx. 3km to Salmela Art Center.

The next day, the trip continues to Kannusjärvi, where you get to visit Luoma Design, a shop full of cheerful bags, jewellery, etc. Here you will meet the manufacturer of the products! Next, we visit a farm – Puotimaalla luomutila, an organic farm, where you can buy Finnish food directly from the farm, including organic flour.

Travel further towards Lahti. In Lahti, it is worth visiting the versatile  handicraft shop  Sataman käsityökauppa Ulpukka in the passenger port, which has many products from Finnish small entrepreneurs. You can visit the Huhtadesign shop to buy bags made on site or other shop products, and visit the Puine shop to buy Finnish wooden handicrafts.

From Lahti continue to Hämeenlinna, where the Willa Vaski run by craftspeople in the city center, has a huge amount of wonderful handwork. Hämeenlinna also has a charming café, Villa Marenki, which is a cozy pet-friendly café in an old, cozy 100-year-old wooden house on Eteläkatu in Hämeenlinna. In the neighborhood, Matin ja Maija Majatalo, you can get a good night's sleep in linen sheets in the arms of an old building. Each room in the small guesthouse is individually decorated and has its own bathroom.

Wouldn't a tour of a few days be nice? Maybe it's worth booking at least three days!

Always check the opening hours on each operator's own website.
