Self-guided tour from Mikkeli

A two- or three-night Puotirundi from Mikkeli – how does that sound? Of course, you can start the routes from any location along the route.

Mikkeli > Pieksämäki > Hankasalmi > Keitele > Kuopio > Enonkoski > Savonlinna > Imatra > Lappeenranta > Mäntyharju > Pertunmaa > Mikkeli

First, drive north to Pieksämäki and there we find clothing heaven, Aritea Store. A lovely and colorful women's clothing store with lots of life-enhancing clothes.

Let's continue to Hankasalmi and stop by Hankasalmi Station to visit Aseman Kirppari & Putiikki. It's a nice combination here - a flea market, boutique and café! It's worth stopping by!

From Hankasalmi continue to Keitele and visit Käsityöpuoti Laventeli. This lovely craft shop sells not only craft supplies and fabrics, but also ready-made crafts from wool socks to clothes, gift items, and local tea and honey products.

From Keitele we continue to the cheerful Kuopio, where in the summer there is an idyllic shopping area, Pikku Pietarin Torikuja, in a red log building right next to the market square. Here you will find a café with a terrace and a long row of small shops.

From Kuopio, drive to Enonkoski and on the way you can stop by for a hike on the Nahkiaispolku Trail in Kolovesi National Park. In the small rural village of Enonkoski there is a charming Maitolaituri Café & Shop, where you can buy beer from a local brewery for your trip, among other interesting products. The café's pastries are also baked on site.

In the countryside of Simanala, Enonkoski, you will find Mustolanmäen Navetan Vintti, which has a small shop, a party/meeting room, a seasonal flea market and café, as well as handicrafts and homemade pastries for sale.

In the idyllic countryside of Karvila, Enonkoski – about 30km from Savonlinna – you will find Karvilan Lankatupa, a craft yarn and supplies shop. They also have a small selection of handicrafts for sale, as well as Teeleidi tea varieties and cold drinks from Rahularanch.

Enonkoski has so many places to visit!

From Enonkoski wander to Savonlinna and visit Studio Milja Muhonen near the harbor. Here you will find timeless and stylish clothes and accessories from Milja's own collection. Savonlinna is not worth passing by without visiting the bustling market square or taking a steamboat cruise from the city's harbor. Olavinlinna is also a must-see.

From Savonlinna, drive via Punkaharju (drive along Harjutie) to Imatra and the colorful Virkkukoukkunen, whose selection includes everyday delights and festive mood enhancers, from dresses to jewellery, ties, home products and other elements that make life sweeter.

In Lappeenranta, in the historic fortress area, there is Galleria Kääntöpoiju, where high-quality linen products are designed and handmade in the Majurska house. The store also sells many products from other producers.

The fortress also houses Täky Galleria, a store-gallery specializing in Finnish arts and crafts and design. The selection includes household goods and interior design products mainly from professionals in the area.

Outside the city, Karoliina Kynttilä workshop shop and production in an old barn, you are guaranteed to find lovely candles. Willitikki is also an atmospheric shop in an old barn building. Personalised products bring joy and atmosphere to your home. Brands are from both Finnish small entrepreneurs and well-known international brands.

At Pulsa station you will find two stylish interior design stores, a café with delicious food, and B&B-style accommodation.

From Pulsa we drive to Mäntyharju and visit Tarjan Muotipuoti, which is known for its wide and high-quality selection, and Puoti Suerte, the "mini department store of 100 small entrepreneurs".

It is nice to have a coffee at Makasiini Puoti & Kahvila, which operates in an old warehouse building during the summer. In Mäntyharju we recommend staying at Huoneistomajoitus Unelma, which is a cozy pet-friendly hotel-level apartment for 1-7 people. Excellent location close to city center services, Art Center Salmela approx. 3km.

In Pertunmaa, we also stop by the Käsityöpuoti Talvikki, where many products from craft masters are on sale.

Would this be a summer trip perhaps?
